There is a basic idea behind using certain units to fight against other certain units. There is a sort of paper rock scissors type factor built in the game and in general it works like this: Ground troops (infantry), beat Air units, Air units beat ground units, and ground units(tanks etc.) beat infantry.
Use this to your advantage when deploying your troops out.
